10, 2006The U13 boys Celtic, won the Delco League Championships
2-0 over FC Delco. Sean McCafferty is the head coach, Lee Martin
and Erik Dasbach are the assistant coaches. Congratulations to all the
players!

82 undefeated and Delco League Champions

your teammates at the "Coppa 82" Pizza Restaurant & Bar after winning
the Delco League Championship Priceless! The
U14 boys, "Coppa 82" sponsored team, capped off an undefeated
Delco League season with a playoff championship final victory over The Crystal
Palace Football Club out of Baltimore Maryland. Coach Bennie Jaszczyszyn
credited the players for all of their hard work and the parents and sponsor for
their support. Special thanks from Bennie also went out to the Spirit United Soccer
Club, the Delco Delegate (Juan Lazares), and the Delco League for all of their
assistance during a very tough but successful season.

win at the Deep Run Turkey Classic

30, 2006It has been hard to stop the SUSC U14 girls, FUSION,
this fall! They went undefeated in their PAGS fall season, were Champions at the
WCUSC Summer Classic, Finalists at the SUSC Kick-Off Classic, and finished with
an impressive Championship win at the Deep Run Turkey Classic. The girls are looking
forward to a competitive indoor and spring season.

Premier Finalists

23, 2006Congratulations to the Spirit United Frenzy U12 girls
who finished the fall 2006 season as finalists in the PAGS Premier division. The
team earned a spot in the playoffs with a league record of 6-2-1. In their semi-final
match, the Frenzy defeated the division's first place team, Deep Run, in a game
that was tied 1-1 after regulation and 2 overtime periods, with the winner decided
by penalty kicks (4-3 Frenzy). The team advanced to the championship final against
Concord Magic on the next day. Concord came to play and Frenzy just couldn't find
the rhythm. Concord Magic won 3-0 over the Frenzy. Congratulations to Concord
for a well played game that led them to the championship. As for the Frenzy, last
year they finished second from the bottom of the league and this year they finished
second from the top. Great job girls!

Strikes Again! 
November
20, 2006The U-13 Spirit United Lightning girls struck gold competing
in the premiere 1 division at the Hempfield soccer classic this weekend. The girls
started off on Saturday with wins over the Pittsburgh Puma's and the Montgomery
Mustangs by the score of 2 -1 in both contests. They followed up with a win over
the Penn forest fusion by the same score 2-1 on Sunday morning and captured the
championship with a thrilling win over Pa. Classic Premiere 2-1 in a shoot out.
Great job girls!!! The girls are coached by Wes Davis & Meredith Yakscoe-
Markle.

Whippets won 2-0 over Moon Township in the PIAA Class AAA title match at Hersheypark

Shines at Parsippany

13, 2006The U-13 Spirit United Lightning had a great showing
by taking second place in the Parsippany Pride Invitational Soccer Tournament.
playing in the premier division.The girls only allowed one goal all weekend and
hit the back of the net five times. They played a hard fought championship game
against the Montclair EZ Passers and the game was finally decieded in double overtime
1-0 on a penalty kick. Great job girls!

Varsity Girls' Soccer Team on their District 1 AA Soccer Championship, in the
team's first year of existence. Joe is also the coach of the Surge (U16
Girls) and Takiyah is also the coach of the Freedom (U12 Girls). Good Luck

 Frenzy
take the Frederick Cup
 October
8, 2006Congratulations to the U12 Girls Frenzy for their
first place finish in the top division at the Kirkwood Girls Premier Columbus
Day Frederick Cup. Using a combination of speed, skill, and teamwork, the Frenzy
finished with a perfect 5-0 record, while scoring 14 goals, and allowing only
two. In bracket play the Frenzy won all three games. The first against FC DELCO
3-0, followed by FC Frederick Premier 3-1. In their final game of bracket play
they beat Century United 2-0. The Frenzy went on to beat FC Buck Force 4-1in the
semi-finals, and put it all together in the finals beating FC DELCO for the second
time in just two days 2-0.Congratulations, girls, your hard work and commitment
are paying off.

7th and 8th.

U15 girls, Chaos traveled to Horsham and placed 1st in the 2006 Colleen
Reilly Tournament, top division, finishing with a 4-0 record. The Chaos girls
frustrated their opponents playing an intense offense hitting the back of the
net 12 times while only allowing two goals against. The Chaos will play in Division
One in PAGS (Philadelphia Area Girls Soccer) league for the 2006/07 season.

25, 2006The U14 girls, Fusion were finalists at the Kick-Off
Classic in the U14 Gold Division. To date the team has only let up 3 goals in
the past 11 games! They lost a tough battle to the Ukranian Nationals for the
championship game but had beaten them earlier in the day during the qualifying
round. Keep up the "Spirit" Fusion!

23, 2006The U12 Hurricanes finished 2nd in the Kick-Off Classic
tournament. The team lost a few players to injuries during the tournament but
played hard and finished with a 2-1-1 record. The Hurricanes have either won or
placed 2nd in the last 5 tournaments congratulations boys!

17, 2006Coppa 82, the under 14 boys sponsored by Coppa 82 Pizza
Bar and Italian Restaurant were Champions at the West Chester Classic. The boys
scored sixteen goals while giving up only two over the four games of the tournament.
The team is coached by Bennie Jaszczyszyn.

14, 2006Fusion, U-14 girls won the Gold division at the WCUSC
Summer Classic. They only let up one goal during the 4 games. The team is coached
by Kurt Worley, Peter Manning-Smith, and John Calcatera.

10, 2006The Spirit United Fusion Under 11 girls won at the West
Chester Tournament this past weekend. The team went 4-0 winning the championship
on penalty kicks. Congratulations girls!

7, 2006The Spirit United Blue Under 9 boys captured 2nd Place
this past weekend at the West Chester Summer Classic with 2 wins, 1 lost and 1
tie. The members of the team are from left to right (back row) Chris McFadden,
Jordan Ambrose, Drew Bennett and Eli Goforth. (Front Row) Clay Moyer, Chris
McFarland, Levi Maruca, Samuel Goforth and Ian Wilson. Missing from the picture
are Alex Potter and Luke McGinley. The team is coached by Craig Scangarella and
Joe Levan.
 Gaels
finish as finalist at National Championships
It
took overtime to decide who would raise the Laura Moynihan Cup as the US Youth
Soccer Under-17 Girls National Champions. Eclipse Select (IL) and Spirit United
Gaels were tied 1-1 at the end of the regulation time. But after two 15 min.
of overtime, the Gaels fell 1-4 to Eclipse Select. At National, the Gaels
tied 0-0 with the Eclipse on the first day of competition. On the second day,
they won 3-2 over Mustang Blast (CA). Another 2-2 tie against Dallas Texan 89
Red (TX) on the third day. The Gaels finished second in the group play and faced
the first place, Eclipse in the Championships game. The Gaels had a great
run through State Cups, Regions and Nationals. They became the first Spirit team
to play in the final at National Championships. Congratulations to all of the
ladies and Coaches Sean McCafferty and Jon Peirce for a wonderful year!

2006 Region I Champions Congratulations to all of the players from the
Celtic (U12 Boys) and Gaels (U17 Girls) for winning the Regional
Championship today (July 4th)! Congratulations to the coaching staff!

for winning the state championship! The Gaels won 2-1 over PA Strikers. The Gaels
are coached by Sean McCafferty. He will be busy at Regionals with the Gaels and
the Celtic. Good luck in Virginia Beach!

Girls Bring Home Championship
 June
12, 2006The U-12 Lightning team coached by Wes Davis brought
home the championship medal of their division at the PAGS tournament. In the first
three preliminary games, the team came through with 2 wins and one tie giving
up no goals to any opponent! The championship game was fought against Wyoming
Valley going into overtime and a shoot-out. Well done team!
 Thunder
Wins Championship at YMS Epic

1, 2006The U10 Thunder won the white division at the YMS Epic
this past Mother's Day weekend. Their persistence, endurance and hard work payed
off, as they won 3 games, and tied 1. They scored a total of 19 goals, while giving
up only 7. Go Thunder!

U15 Girls took home runner-up hardware in the Chesapeake Cup Classic in Elkton,
MD, on Saturday, April 15. The team, led by Assistant Coach Ed Salvitti, played
outstanding defense in every contest. The Legend only lost one game a tough 2-0
contest to the Baltimore Shakedown SC in the Championship game in route to claiming
the second place trophy.

U11 Boys win indoor tournament at The Far Post. The boys posted wins again
against a local select team (3-0) and against Concord Crew (3-0), and lost 0-1
against Philly soccer. The championship game was a rematch against Philly soccer
and Spirit reversed the previous game by winning 1-0 and taking the championship.

14, 2006On Saturday, January 29, 2006, the Spirit Legend U15 Girls
won all four games en route to the Action Sports Indoor U 14/15 Championship at
Action Sports in Pottstown. The final game was a tough 1 - 0 victory in the Championship
game over Whitpan FC, a cup level competitior. Led by strong defensive play, the
Legend allowed only one goal during the competition while a balanced attack on
the offensive side of the ball provided the spark to win the championship. Scoring
was led by Stephanie Salvitti and Lauren Shelton with 3 goals each, Audrey Forbes
with two, including the game winner in the championship game and Meghan Morley
with one.
 Three
Boys Teams Will Participate at the Jefferson Cup
Three
of Spirit United's boys teams were accepted into the prestigious Jefferson Cup,
held in Richmond, VA each year. This tournament will take place on the weekend
of March 18, 19. The U12 Celtic, U13 Coppa 82 and the U15 Premier
teams have all been placed in the highest divisions of their respective age groups.
It is the 6th year in a row that the current U15 Premier team (coached by Joe
Levan, Aaron Thomas and Mike Glauner) have participated in the Jefferson Cup;
they were finalists in 2003 and 2004 and were champions of their division in 2005.
Congratulations and good luck to these teams!

January 9, 2006The reigning EPYSA Outdoor State Cup Champions
(Spirit United Coppa 82U13 Boys) are now also the new Indoor State
Cup Champions. The boys went undefeated as they bested a 24 team field at Hershey
this past weekend with wins over Brandywine United, West Chester United, and Deep
Run to win their division. Shutout wins over the PA Classics and Feltonville in
the quarter finals and semi finals put Coppa 82 into the finals against a tough
FC Delco squad. A hard fought 2 0 shutout victory gave Bennie Jasczczyszyns
boys the championship. Victory tasted as good as a meal at their sponsors
restaurant. Great effort Coppa 82!
 Gaels
Won Disney Soccer Showcase
 January
6, 2006The U17 Spirit United Gaels put in a dominating performance
to win the U17 Predator Division of the nationally renowned Disney Soccer Showcase
tournament in Orlando, Florida. The four day tournament was held at Disney's Wild
World of Sports, December 30 thru Jan 2. The Gaels tied the state champions from
Georgia and beat regional champions from northern California and Illinois during
the qualifying round. They went on to beat the Ohio and South Carolina state champions
in the semi finals and finals. Congratulations to the Gaels who are coached by
Head Coach Sean McCafferty and Ass't. Coach Jon Pierce! |
