Medical
Kit Each Coach must carry, and have in their possession at all times,
fully signed and executed Medical Release Forms for all players (including guests)
in the event of injury or illness. It is the parents responsibility
to keep the coach abreast of any changes on items included on the Medical Release
Forms including medications, allergies and Health Insurance. Each team should
be stocking and carrying a medical kit at all practices, games and tournaments. The
cost to stock the medical kit will be shared equally among the team members.
A well stocked Medical kit may include: (consult a physician and/or pharmacist
for their advice on what to include in a soccer medical kit) -
a plastic
tackle box to hold the supplies
- at least 2 ace bandages - three or four
inch
- ankle and knee elastic wraps/braces
-
a roll of four inch
gauze or cling dressing
- assorted Band-Aids (preferably large they
can be cut down to size)
- rolls of two inch athletic tape
-
a pair
of scissors
- about ten 4x4 inch gauze pads
-
two pairs of preferably
non-latex gloves
- a tube of antibiotic ointment
-
several packs
of alcohol swabs
- cotton balls and cotton swabs
-
individual packets
of Tylenol, aspirin and/or Advil/Motrin
-
several Benadryl tablets or capsules
-
bee sting kit
-
a bottle of eyewash
-
ammonia capsules (smelling
salts)
- several baggies to hold ice and supplies
-
a supply of
ice, which also can be used to cool drinks
-
cold compress items such as
instant and reusable ice packs
- remember to use clothing as a soft splint,
which, if properly applied can immobilize most fractures for transport
-
a first aid booklet
-
anything else a parent or advisor feels would be
important (for example a face mask to be used for mouth to mouth respiration
available at the Red Cross).
