Sean is considered
by many to be among the state’s promising next generation of young coaches.
In 2006, Sean was name 2006 EPYSA Girls' Coach of the Year and 2006
NSCAA Regional Youth Girls' Coach of the Year. His Celtic U12 Boys team
won the Region 1 Championship and the Gales U17 Girls team were the National
Finalist.
In 2007, the Celtic repeated as the State Champions and will be returning to
complete in the Region 1 Championship in Portland, ME, June 28 through July 3,
2007
Sean grew up in N. Ireland and played football for a youth team from the age
of 8 to 16. At age 13, Sean started to travel around Europe playing in
tournaments for the youth teams of professional clubs such as Everton, Aston
Villa, Nottingham Forest, Norwich City, Manchester City and Peterborough
United. At 14, he signed with Peterborough United and at age 16 moved to
England to pursue his dream of becoming a professional footballer.
Sean lived in Peterborough for three years playing for both the youth team and
reserve team on a regular basis. At 19 he was told by the club they would not
be offering him a new contract so he moved back to Ireland and played pro for
Finn Harps in Ireland for two years. He was drawn into coaching by Tony
Williams who was his coach at Peterborough and through him, he came to the US
and started his coaching career.
Sean holds an English prelim coaching badge and played professionally for
Peterborough United in England and Finn Harps in Ireland. Prior to joining the
professional ranks, he was a member of Northern Ireland Youth International.
