Despite the cold temperatures and the steady rainfall the U-14 Lightning girls put on a great display of team soccer and won their second straight title at the Hempfield Classic. The girls competed in the Premier 1 divison. The girls started the weekend off by defeating the host Hempfield Power 1-0 in a tight defensive battle and by days end on Sunday found themselves in the championship game against the nationally ranked West Windsor Challenge who compiled a 3-0 record by scoring 21 goals while only giving up 2. In a hard fought wind blown rain the lightning were up too the Challenge and came away with a 2-0 victory and their second straight title. The girls finished the fall season in striking fashion. They will now take a much deserved month off and then will start to get ready for cup season. The girls are coached by Wes Davis.
